UK ASSOCIATION OF GYPSY WOMEN

End Discrimination Against the Romany Gypsy and Irish Traveller Community

To: UK Government

The UK ASSOCIATION OF GYPSY WOMEN

Members of the Romany Gypsy & Irish Traveller Ethnic Minority Communities

Petition the UK Government

We the undersigned; petition the government and demand our basic, fundamental human rights be restored the Romany Gypsy and Irish Traveller ethnic minorities;

we also demand the government put an end to racial discrimination against our communities.

We demand an end to the culture of impunity that prevails throughout the country.

We demand equality with all other UK citizens. We would remind the government that under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, to which the UK is a party since 1976; the government should cease to restrict attempts by the above two ethnic minorities to follow their Cultural, Traditional way of life.

Romany Gypsies & Irish Travellers cannot realise their right to accommodation-their right to health-care-their right to educationtheir right to employment-their right to respect and dignity. Simply because racial abuse & discrimination towards these two minorities from public/private sector bodies; as well as the wider community and the media is acceptable to the government.

All individuals committing these acts towards Romany’s/ Irish Travellers should be subjected to disciplinary control or punishment
