The Clearwater Gypsies have received funding from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for a two-year series of education workshops for schools about the gypsy way of life.
The project was set up in 2009 by Greg Yates and aims to educate children of all ages about gypsies and travellers and works with the West Sussex Traveller Education Service.
The workshops involve taking a wagon into schools to help explain the life and culture while secondary school children learn about issues affecting travellers such as health, education and planning.
Mr Yates said: “We got the funding in May and we just want to let schools know we are here and can visit them.
“The funding means the cost of the workshops for schools is now massively reduced.”
