Hundreds of thousands of Roma, or Gypsy, people were persecuted and killed by the Nazis during World War II. But half a century on, the German city where the killings of the Roma people was planned has now become the place where they are offered the hope of a better life.
One German group in particular is determined to help the Roma, said to be among the most persecuted people in Europe, according to rights group Amnesty International.
Al Jazeera's Charlie Angela reports from Berlin.
