EPSOM is gearing up to play host to the fourth annual Gypsy Day celebration on June 25.

The event offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the rich history of the Romany people in Surrey.

Visitors can enjoy traditional gypsy music, try their hand at Romany crafts and, weather permitting, a traditional horse and carriage will carry visitors on a short tour.

Jeremy Harte, curator of the Bourne Hall Museum, said: “It is just an opportunity to get to talk to people because there is an incredible difference between the scary portrayal of these people and the truth.

“Surrey as a whole has a rich Romany history and this is particularly true around Epsom.”

Gypsy Day will be open between 11am and 4pm at Bourne Hall on Spring Street
