Romany gypsy from Bulkington named Britain's most talented traveller

SHE’S never been in a recording studio and has spent more time singing into a hairbrush than a microphone but that hasn’t stopped Olivia Ayres from being named Britain’s most talented traveller.

The 15-year-old Romany gipsy from Bulkington scooped the accolade after blowing away the competition’s judges with her voice – despite never having had any professional training.

Now with the UK’s fascination with the travelling community peaking after the recent Channel 4 series about gipsy weddings the brunette with the big voice is being splashed all over the pages of the national tabloids.

Competition organisers are even pleading with Olivia to come back and perform at the next event – after handling 300 calls in one week about her.

Traveller’s Got Talent boss Tracy Nedic, told the Coventry Telegraph that Olivia had it all.

“Before she took part we knew she could sing,” Tracy said. “We were sure she would be a contender.

“One of the first times she sang in public was at the House of Lords for politicians and dignitaries during a special event for travellers.

“It’s horrible to say it, because I had so many friends I was supporting, but at the final as soon as Olivia belted out that first note we knew she was going to win.
