APPEAL FOR UNITY FROM UNITED KINGDOM ASSOCIATION OF GYPSY WOMEN

TRAVELER IN IRELAND
 UKAGW Appeal for Unity

03/02/2011 -

On the 27th January 2011 UKAGW together with members of the Irish Traveller community attended a Holocaust Memorial Service in London , honouring our peoples ultimate sacrifice. While remembering centuries of persecution in the UK due to our cultural traditional way of life. At the same time recognising that we as the two longest standing ethnic minorities, have every right to expect to have our needs for accommodation met. Knowing that when those needs are in place then, all other essential services are automatically accessible.

Traditional cultural differences between the two communities were not an issue for those attending the solemn service on the 27th, only a mutual respect for each other and the knowledge that our two communities needs are intertwined and will remain so until both communities accommodation needs are met. UKAGW appeal to members of both communities to remain steadfast, in unity and solidarity with each other and not in conflict.
