It’s impossible to say if it would be any more grand than the festivities in New York, England and elsewhere on Saturday, on what would have been the slain Beatles’ front man’s big 7-0.

His first wife, Cynthia, unveiled a statue in his honor in the UK, and his second wife, Yoko Ono, was set to perform with her band, the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band in Iceland.

In Strawberry Fields, the section of Central Park outside The Dakota, the Central Park west apartment building where Lennon was gunned down by Mark David Chapman 30 years ago, thousands of fans gathered to sing “Imagine.”

In unison, they sang: “Imagine there’s no Heaven, it’s easy if you try, no hell below us, above us only sky.”
